Thế giới trong những ngày đầu năm 2020 đã phải hứng chịu sự hỗn loạn từ Trung Đông sau vụ việc Qassem Soleimani - được xem là nhân vật quyền lực thứ 2 tại Iran - bị Mỹ không kích sát hại theo lệnh của Tổng thống Donald Trump.

Trước cái chết của nhà tư lệnh vũ trang hàng đầu Iran, người dân nước này không khỏi bức xúc với hành động cực đoan của ông chủ Nhà Trắng. Lãnh tụ tinh thần tối cao Ali Khamenei cho biết sẽ trả thù với những bàn tay đã nhuốm máu tướng Soleimani. Con gái của ông Soleimani cũng đưa ra lời đe dọa về “ngày đen tối” đối với nước Mỹ.

Căng thẳng vũ trang giữa Mỹ và Iran theo đó đã trở thành mối quan tâm hàng đầu đối với giới phân tích. “Nền kinh tế thế giới vốn chịu nhiều áp lực từ thương chiến Mỹ - Trung đã chạm đáy vào cuối năm 2019 rồi bật tăng vào những ngày đầu năm mới, nhưng xung đột vũ trang tại Trung Đông đã khiến mức tăng này đóng băng”, Jason Tuvey - nhà kinh tế trưởng các thị trường mới nổi tại Capital Economics nhận định.
